V89 is a College Music Journal (CMJ) Core Reporting station, helping to determine the CMJ Radio 200 national radio charts. WVFS aims to play the best new music first, and often exposes worthy talent before it makes it to commercial airplay–you may hear an artist played on V89 only to see them make it big on commercial radio in the future.  In addition to the next big thing, V89 is the place to hear the latest and greatest in independent music 24/7 and your favorite college radio classics.  V89 has something for everyone!
