WVFS Tallahassee 89.7FM (also known as ‘The Voice of Florida State’ and affectionately referred to by many simply as V89) is an Affiliated Project of the Florida State University Student Government Association and the College of Communication and Information, and operates as a non-commercial, educational, public radio station with 7000 watts of power. That’s right, 7000 watts!

WVFS is on air 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and maintains a terrestrial broadcast radius of 25 to 30 miles while also streaming audio worldwide on the web. So you can listen from ANYWHERE!!! Just click “LISTEN LIVE” on the lefthand bar.

WVFS is staffed by 150-200 hard working volunteers from both the campus and the community, all of whom work (mostly without hurting each other) with the primary goal of providing a diverse source of new and different music, news, sports, and entertainment for greater Tallahassee and beyond.  WVFS serves as a topnotch training facility, offering hands on training in all facets of radio station operations, and welcoming of all who wish and are willing to participate.  When it comes to college radio, we’re happy to borrow from a bad song in saying nobody does it better!
