Live Performance Requirements

To be able to perform live on Hootenanny, the Artist must have at least 30 minutes of ORIGINAL music. We generally discourage cover songs (few exceptions).  Because V89 broadcasts college/educational format programming with no commercials, we do not host or allow commercially-focused discussion, Top 40s-style music, or jam bands (sorry, no exceptions).

Per FCC regulation, any artist speaking on air may not perform any calls to action, nor may they say any details relating to the price of any event.  Artists may not say any FCC-banned words or use any obscene language; visit the FCC website for more information.

Studio Equipment

We provide an array of microphones, single mix headset monitors, and a full drum kit to aid in live shows. We have capacity to record with a Pro Tools high quality setup, and we have external processors and plugins to mix and master performances.

We do not provide amplifiers OR instruments.

Recording the Session

The WVFS Studio can record your show in varying complexity and price. It can be recorded several ways:

A copy of the session recorded from the soundboard and burned to a CD the same night;

A copy of the session recorded from the soundboard and mixed by the Studio Engineer and burned to CD after the show;

A multi-tracked copy of the session with all tracks and metadata burned to DVD;

A multi-tracked copy of the session mixed by the Studio Manager and burned to DVD.

Contact the Studio Manager before the show for information about the recording.

All-Purpose Live Recording Studio

WVFS houses a live studio that’s also a fully-equipped recording studio available for recording your single, demo, EP or album. If you are interested in booking a recording session for any type of release, the studio can accommodate your setup. For more info please contact the Studio Manager.
