2015Tune In At 10PM On 2/23 For A Special, Two-Band Hootenanny Featuring Webcam Teens and Ka Plaa
This upcoming Monday night, V89’s local music program is excited to be hosting a special show featuring in-studios from two live bands instead of one: Webcam Teens and Ka Plaa.
Formed in 2011, Webcam Teens is a local hardcore punk supergroup of sorts; members have been playing in local bands for years upon years. Their latest EP, Separation Anxiety, was voted our third-favorite local release of 2014 by the V89 DJ staff, and also featured in Maximumrocknroll upon its release.
Dating all the way back to 2009, Ka Plaa is also a local hardcore supergroup of sorts, but with a theme: all of their lyrics are about Star Trek. They are also one of the few hardcore punk groups we’ve heard to experiment with elements of psychedelia; making them one of the most unique and fun bands to see in town. They released a full-length, titled The Original Series, in 2011.
On Monday, February 23rd, tune in at 10PM to hear live in-studio performances from each of these bands, and keep your eyes peeled for more in-studio announcements later in the week. It’s loads of fun and it’s only on V89.
